clipped from www.telegraph.co.uk Jackson’s biographer Ian Halperin has been quoted saying that the pop star is suffering from a fatal inherited diease that has left him increasingly frail. Mr Halperin was quoted in the Sun saying: “He needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it. He also has emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, which his doctors have had a lot of trouble stopping. “It’s the bleeding that’s the most problematic part. It could kill him.” Mr Halperin alleged Jackson, 50, had developed an alpha-1 anti-trypsin deficiency, in which sufferers lack a protein that protects the lungs. Treatment includes a lung transplant.
