| A suspected car thief has been arrested - thanks to a DNA sample taken from blood found inside a mosquito.PoliceĀ inspecting a dumped stolen car in Lapua, Finland, last June noticed a full-looking mosquito. It was sent to a lab for testing, and the DNA was found to match the sample of a man in the police register. The suspect has insisted he did not steal the car, claiming he hitchhiked and was given a lift by a male driver. A prosecutor will decide if the evidence is solid enough for charges to be pressed. Police inspector Sakari Palomaeki said: ‘It is not easy to find a small mosquito in a car. This just shows how thorough the crime scene investigation was.’
